Endovascular treatment of ruptured middle cerebral artery aneurysm in a pregnant woman

ABSTRACT
Aneurysms of the cerebral vessels are disorders in the structure of the walls of cerebral arteries. They usually occur in the large arteries at the base of the brain. The case of a patient is presented in the third trimester of pregnancy with subarachnoid haemorrhage from a ruptured aneurysm of the right middle cerebral artery, with accompanying intracerebral haematoma. Pregnancy was terminated by Caesarean section. After delivery, the patient in continuous anaesthesia was subjected to the procedure of embolization of the aneurysm. A rare complication of endovascular treatment may be thromboembolic events, which occurred in this case. Due to the lack of possibilities of pharmacological and fibrinolytic treatment, mechanical removal of embolic material was performed using the thrombectomy device Soliter FR 3x20 obtaining total vascularization of the artery. Eight days after the procedure, the patient with discrete left-sided paresis was transferred to the maternity ward.
