ABSTRACT
Dermatomyositis is a rare autoimmune idiopathic inflammatory condition characterised by proximal muscle weakness and distinctive cutaneous manifestations such as heliotrope rash and Gottron’s papules, often associated with systemic involvement and an increased risk of malignancy. Sjögren’s syndrome is caused by accumulation of lymphocytes in the exocrine glands. The most common clinical manifestations include xerostomia and xerophthalmia, which occur as a result of malfunctioning salivary and lacrimal glands. Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues in many parts of the body. Typical symptoms include painful and swollen joints, fever, chest pain, hair loss, mouth ulcers, swollen lymph nodes, fatigue, and a red rash that most often appears on the face. The intensity of these symptoms may be different in individual patients. Periods of exacerbation and remission of the disease are common.
